Teaching Philosophy
Here's what William Bing has to say about his philosophy of playing and teaching: "For any musician, the quality of
sound coming from their instrument should be the most important
consideration. One can play high and loud, but if there isn't a
good sound, the listener won't be interested in what the performer is
playing or 'saying' on their instrument. Also, in any register,
the sound is a good indicator of the mechanics of one's playing ability.
The better the sound, the greater the ease of tone production.
How to play well should not be a great mystery. If one takes the
time to learn the fundamentals, playing any instrument can be musically
satisfying to both the listener and the performer." |
